Clermont Northeastern High School Announces Marcie Alberts as New Girls Varsity Basketball Head Coach pending Board of Education approval.
Batavia, Ohio — Clermont Northeastern High School is proud to announce the appointment of Marcie Alberts as the new head coach of the Rockets Girls Varsity Basketball program pending Board of Education approval.
Coach Alberts brings more than two decades of coaching experience to the role. She has high school head coaching experience as well as college coaching experience on her impressive resume. She began her coaching career as the head coach of Orrville High School's girls basketball team, earning a 117 - 45 record during her tenure. She then became the women's head basketball coach at Heidelberg College from 2008-2013. From 2013 to 2021, Alberts was an assistant coach for the NCAA Division I Purdue University Fort Wayne women's basketball program. From 2022-2025 Alberts was the head girls basketball coach at Wapakoneta High School.
A four-year letter winner and team captain at The Ohio State University, Alberts was an honorable mention All-Big Ten selection in 1997. While with the Buckeyes, she became one of the most prolific three-point shooters in program history. During the 1996-97 season, Alberts led the Big Ten in 3-point field goals made and set at the time a conference record for 3-point attempts in a season. As a sophomore, Alberts led the Big Ten in 3-point shooting percentage. She set a then school record in 1996-97 for 3-pointers in a season with 86, and stills holds the record for the most 3-pointers by a senior as well as free throw percentage by a senior. Alberts left Ohio State second in 3-pointers made, 3-point attempts and free throw percentage, fourth in 3-point percentage and ninth in assists.
After graduating from Ohio State, Alberts went on to play for the now defunct Cleveland Rockers during the inaugural season of the WNBA in 1997. She received a bachelor of science from Ohio State and a master's degree in recreation administration from Toledo.
Marcie Alberts was inducted into the Ohio Basketball Hall of Fame on May 21, 2016, at the 11th Annual Ceremony in Columbus..
