Clermont Northeastern Families and Staff,

At a Special Meeting on Tuesday, September 28th, the Clermont Northeastern Board of Education passed a resolution addressing the quarantining of students exposed to COVID-19.  I have spent the last 6 days working with the building administrators to create a plan to implement the Board’s wishes while still doing our best to guard against COVID-19 in our schools.  Over the past few weeks we have seen an increase in the number of staff and students testing positive for COVID-19.  I would encourage you to make the best decision for your child and your unique circumstances.  Masks are strongly recommended for staff, students, and visitors to the buildings.

Starting tomorrow (10/5) the families of students exposed to COVID-19, while at school, will have several options per the Board of Education’s resolution.  They are:

  • Option 1 - Families can still elect to quarantine their students following the guidelines of the CDC, Ohio Department of Health, and Clermont County Department of Health.  This quarantine lasts 10 days but can be reduced to 7 days if the student receives a negative COVID test result.  The test must be administered on the 5th day, or later, of quarantine.

  • Option 2 - Students who were exposed to COVID-19, but are not showing any symptoms, can continue to come to school.  Families are required to administer a daily health screening and submit a signed form verifying its accuracy.  This must be done for 10 days following the COVID exposure.  The form must be completed and returned to school each day, prior to the start of school.  Failure to fill out the form will result in the student being sent home.  Students who develop symptoms are required to stay home until symptoms subside or they provide a negative COVID test.

The Board’s new policy only applies to students exposed to COVID AND who are not showing any symptoms.  Students who test positive for COVID-19 are still required to quarantine for 10 days.  The full text of the Board’s resolution can be found at https://go.boarddocs.com/oh/cnes/Board.nsf/files/C7BKXX53CBC0/$file/Quarantine%20Resolution.pdf

It is also important to note that students who are fully vaccinated and/or properly masked are not required to quarantine, or submit the daily health screening, if they are exposed to COVID while at school.

Students who are currently quarantined after being exposed to COVID-19 are able to return to school tomorrow provided they:
