Getting to know our staff members is such fun.  Mrs. Farrell, one of our awesome reading specialists, shares some fun facts about herself.

  • What would the students be surprised to find out about you?  When I was younger I did a little bit of barrel racing with my horse.  I didn’t do a lot of major shows, but had fun at local 4H events or just in the backyard.  I started riding horses when I was about 4 years old and have always had horses around.

  • What’s a typical Saturday night like for you?  I go to church on Saturday night and then usually go out with friends or family to a restaurant just to hang out.

  • What are some pets you’ve had or would like to own?  I have horses, dogs and cats.  I grew up with horses and love to ride.  I love to take care of my pets and give them a happy place to live.  I think it’s important to understand that if you have pets you have a huge responsibility to take care of them and keep them safe.

  • What is your favorite dish from the cafeteria?  Without a doubt it is Thanksgiving dinner.  I always buy the week before Thanksgiving and I love the pumpkin pie.  Yum.

  • Are there any embarrassing teaching moments you’re willing to share?  Too many to count.

  • In which Hogwarts house would you be sorted? Slytherin without a doubt. Just kidding, I am Hufflepuff all the way.

  • Did you see the new Star Wars on opening night? I saw the first ever Star Wars movie released in the theatres in 1977.  I actually saw it 13 times.  I was ten years old.  Boy those special effects were amazing.

  • How do you spend your summer vacation? I love to spend time with family and friends. I love camping and hiking, or  just hanging out around the house. More than anything I love to host family and friend gatherings.  I usually have a really big pancake breakfast every year and have even had a wiffle ball tournament.  Fun times.   I love staying home more than traveling but a few quick adventures over the summer are a must.  I might hike part of the Appalachian Trail this year.

  • What’s the best/worst thing about being a teacher?  Of course the best thing about teaching is all of the wonderful students I have had the pleasure of working with.  I also think it was great that I had a similar schedule as my children when they were younger.  The worst thing about being a teacher is finding time to have a restroom break.
