This course is designed to satisfy the Ohio graduation requirements for life science when taken in conjunction with Biology B. During this trimester, students will explore the field of molecular biology; this includes scientific methodology, biochemistry, characteristics of life, cell structure and function, energy production in the cell, cell division, DNA structure and composition, and basic Mendellian genetics. Historical perspectives and revolutions, abilities to do technological design and scientific inquiry, the nature of science, and ethical practices are also stressed in this course. Students should expect lab activities and exercises with follow up reports, daily assignments, and at least one major project during the trimester. Science notebooks and/or journals are a required part of this course.
